Gamers Want A Nintendo Wii - Entertainment

Before Nintendo named its Console Wii, it had a codename, Revolution. When they did finally announce that the official name was Wii, people started to laugh. With strong competition from both Microsoft and Sony with their Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, many people believed that Nintendo were grasping at straws and were ready to go the way of Sega. Boy, were we ever wrong on that one.

When Wii was displayed at the E3 2005 conference, everyone was excited for it's unique and exciting control scheme. In order just to try out the system, you had to, in some cases, wait for an hour and a half to three hours in line.

Although the graphics for the Nintendo Wii didn't look as good as the graphics being displayed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, most people at the conference didn't care. It was the Wii remote and the Wii Nunchuck that really had people interested. As a pretty interesting tidbit, my parents even wanted to know about it and I can't remember the last time they played video games.

Nintendo then revealed that the Wii would have a worldwide release in 2006. After that announcement, people were anxiously waiting for its release to try an innovative way of playing video games.

When the Wii was finally released, something happened that was quite unexpected. The Console was sold out everywhere. It was pretty crazy because you could see people waiting at the stores overnight just to get the chance to own a game console. You would almost expect that they were waiting outside for some big rock star or something. There were some reports of fights starting, and general chaos whenever a shop opened that was selling the Nintendo Wii.

Even after more than a year since its release, people are still finding it difficult to get their hands on one. Thankfully though, the rate at which the consoles are being manufactured has sped up. This simply means, that now, finding a Nintendo Wii shouldn't be as difficult as it was before.

In all, Nintendo really outdid themselves with this console. Whether your a hardcore gamer, or have never played a video game in your life, chances are you can probably find something for yourself to enjoy.
