Get healthy and stay strong with the help of Wii Fit - Technology - Cell Phones

Before I even go further about the Wii fit, let me clearly declare, yes a video game console will indeed help one exercise. Of course this console is the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo is already well known for developing games that bring the family together. Their motion sensing joysticks make Wii games the perfect activity for families to do. But Nintendo has kicked it up a notch and decided to develop something that not only engages the family in a fun activity but also a healthy activity. The Wii fit is the perfect video game for almost any type of gamer. It embodies fitness training in a very fun and engaging manner. The Wii fit requires the use of the Wii balance board. The Balance board is a useful Wii accessory for not just the activities in the game, but also for measuring the weight of the person and the Center of Balance.

The Wii fit has 3 different types of activities. These are, Yoga, Aerobics and Balance games, and Body Tests. The Yoga part of this game consists of about 30 activities. The game consists of a virtual trainer who demonstrates the different Yoga activities for the gamer to emulate. Throughout these activities the focus remains on the Center of Balance of the person which should not move beyond a certain radius. Points are given or taken based on the performance on these activities (such as shaking and swaying during). The Yoga part also offers strength training exercises such as pushups, lunges, planks, rowing squats etc.

The Aerobics and Balance games section of the game consists of three basic categories of activities. These are Hula Hooping, Step Aerobics and Jogging. Along with these three categories are nine balance games. Hula Hooping consists of twirling of hips to imitate hula hooping, Step aerobics concentrate on step exercises on and off the Wii Balance board and Jogging is simple jogging with the use of the Wii Remote (instead of the balance board) which acts as a pedometer. Balance games use Miis (Nintendo Avatars) as playable characters. Games such as Soccer Heading use the motions of the body of the gamer for the Mii to head the ball in the game.

The third section of the Wii Fit is the Body Test. It uses the Body Mass Index of the person which is calculated by the Wii Fit. Body Tests also calculate the Wii Fit age of the person playing it. Different Body tests suggest the relation between the bodily strength and endurance and the true age of that person.

The Wii Fit may not provide extremely intense workouts or muscle building exercises involving weights (it would not come as a surprise to find Nintendo trying to incorporate those two in the Wii Fit), however the exercises it provides are sufficient to keep someone healthy and fit provided that they play it every day. The concept of creating a family based fitness game is indeed effective as evident from the sales of the game (third highest selling Wii game). Health Clubs, Therapists, senior citizens are slowly grasping the utility of this game. Nintendo indeed has found the solution for reestablishing health and fitness values back into the average household in times of obesity.
